CUSTOMER: Top Ten Global Pharmaceutical Company
PROJECT SCOPE: Pharmaceutical site required multiple pieces of powder process equipment in laboratory with minimum downtime between equipment change out, while minimizing exposure levels.
DESIGN CHALLENGE: The facility had a maximum allowance of 450 CFM from the dedicated exhaust and minimal lab floor space. The enclosure and three pieces of powder processing equipment (Fluid Bed Dryer, Fitzmill, and Bulk Powder Drum) all had to be on mobile carts for cleaning. Exposure had to be below 10 micrograms per cubic meter.
FLOW SCIENCES' SOLUTION: A team of engineers worked throughout the design process with the client consultant, facility manager, Environmental Health and Safety Officer, and lab operators to best understand interaction and exposure limits.
TEST RESULTS: Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) with surrogate powder yielded exposure level results of less than 1 microgram per cubic meter for each powder process.
